Just wanted to take a moment to post that I achieved the Google Data Analytics Certificate through Coursera. I am thankful for the free resources that I could take advantage of before this course. Those resources are SQLbolt.com and Alex the Analyst on YouTube.
I would recommend it to anyone interested in this course, though I do not completely love it.
I think that the course is great but it definitely tries to keep you within the Google environment. I am a proud Excel user and moving back and forth between that and Google Spreadsheets was a pain. Also, it was difficult to manage all of the cloud based tools that they had us learn. I am not the biggest fan of BigQuery and the course spent a a lot of time on the soft skills part of being a data analyst that honestly lost me. It was a bit of word vomit at times.
All in all, I am happy that I have taken this first step in approaching the world of data analytics. Please stay tuned as I will have following posts documenting my analytic and IT projects as I get them done to round out my portfolio.
